Laurie offers specialized counseling services for individuals and families navigating the complex emotional landscapes of surrogacy and adoption. Her counseling approach is rooted in empathy, understanding, and commitment to providing support tailored to each client's unique situation.
Surrogacy
Laurie helps intended parents process their feelings around infertility and provides support during the surrogacy journey by managing anxiety and expectations while building hope. For surrogates, Laurie offers emotional support throughout the process, helping them navigate the physical and emotional challenges that may arise during pregnancy, delivery and after.
Adoption
Laurie provides individual, couples and family counseling for all members of the adoption triad (birth families, adoptive parents and adoptees). Laurie completes pre-adoption homestudies for families to qualify for adoption. She provides post adoption counseling for birth parents, adoptees and adoptive families.
Support groups
Laurie leads support groups for both surrogacy and adoption and provides individuals a place to share experiences, build connections, and find comfort in knowing they are not alone. These groups foster open dialogue about the emotional complexities of surrogacy and adoption, offering participants a safe space to discuss their feelings and concerns.
Educational resources
Laurie shares her knowledge through educational resources on all aspects of surrogacy and adoption, equipping clients with knowledge to better understand their journeys.

Therapy/counseling (in-person or virtual)
In office and virtual sessions are available. Sessions are scheduled at a frequency that is best for the clients needs and are typically weekly or bi-weekly. Topics discussed may include mental health, infertility, reproductive counseling, relationship challenges and family building through adoption or surrogacy.
Specializing in Attachment-Based Therapy, Laurie assists parents with understanding secure and insecure attachments and how to synchronize attachment with their child. Laurie assists young adults and adults with repurposing attachments later in life through an earned attachment. This provides the foundation for developing and maintaining healthy relationships throughout life.
Intended parents educational consultation
This time will be spent providing education about third-party reproduction, reviewing your situation and answering any questions you may have about the process or raising children conceived via third-party reproduction. Laurie works closely with fertility clinics so that specific evaluation requirements for the Intended Parent(s) are met. At the conclusion, a detailed report following ASRM-MHPG guidelines will be sent to your fertility clinic to ensure you are ready for the next phase of treatment. *Time frame ranges based on individual cases.
Gestational carrier psychological screenings
Psychological screenings are conducted during a few sessions and scheduling consideration is given to your timeline with your clinic's treatment plan. At the conclusion of our time together, a detailed report following ASRM-MHPG guidelines will be sent to your fertility clinic to ensure you are ready move on to the next phase of treatment. Independent surrogacy journeys usually require a psychological screening as well, which can be provided.
Adoption home studies
Domestic, international, private or agency adoption home studies consist of interviews, a home visit and report provided to the family, court or agency requiring the information. This is a requirement for adoption and provides approval for a family to have a child to be placed in their home.
Professional consultation
Professional consultation is provided to therapists, agencies, professionals or anyone interested in learning and understanding the nuances of adoption and surrogacy. You will be provided with an opportunity to learn and develop knowledge in working with people touched by adoption or surrogacy.

Insurance
Laurie is an in-network provider for a small number of insurance companies and an out of network provider for many major insurance plans. Contact Laurie to discuss your insurance in more detail.
Self-pay
Often patients need services that do not meet the criteria for a clinical diagnosis and self-pay is a better option. You maintain control over your care. Together, we will be able to determine a course of treatment that is best for you and your goals. You will not be limited to a predetermined treatment duration or be required to receive a mental health diagnosis. Working with a clinician privately increases the degree of control you have and ensures additional privacy unavailable to those utilizing insurance. For those utilizing out-of-network services a superbill will be provided to assist with reimbursement.
